From the movie “Marie Antoinette” – seen on Wedding Inspirasi

Since I’m avoiding ice-skating (more like ice-slipping!) on the black ice covering Manhattan today and because it’s Thursday! I thought it would be a good occasion for some tbt…

Here’s one of my very modest attempts at Haute Couture for a gown I wore as a bridesmaid for my little sister’s wedding in summer 2012. With the assistance of an up and coming lebanese designer (Ghassan Antonios), I was able to create a gown inspired by Marie Antoinette gowns’ silhouette. What made me go back in time and take a look at my sister’s wedding photos is the fact that this very similar style has been making a come back on Elie Saab’s runway both for his SS 2013 and the very recent SS 2014. Nice try, though I admit I still have a very long way before comparing my creations to ES’s! Always in awe of ES!

Downton Ambiance

In light of Downton Abbey’s season 4 premiere in the UK last month, here are my aristocratic picks for the return!

Top & bottom left: Bardith Antiques on Madison av., the go-to source for 18th-century English porcelain tableware and objets d’art. Bottom middle: Dolce and Gabbana majestically grand crown. Right: Victorian gown from Cesar Paciotti’s window display. Manhattan, October ‘13
